How to apply for a Psychology degree

Applications for Master of Psychology (Counselling), Master of Psychology (Educational & Developmental) and Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology close on 31 October each year.

Note: If you wish to apply for any other postgraduate degree in the Faculty of Education, please see How to apply for a postgraduate course.

Step 1 - Application (by 31 October)

Submit your application through Online applications by 31 October.
Upload all transcripts
- For the Masters degree, include transcript of fourth year studies completed to date
- For the Postgraduate Diploma: include transcript of third year studies completed to date
For the Master degrees only: Upload the completed Supplementary form:
- Master of Psychology Supplementary Information Form (pdf 55Kb) OR
  Master of Psychology Supplementary Information Form (doc 301Kb)
  Please note that if you are applying for both the Counselling and Educational & Developmental streams you will need to complete a supplementary form for each program.

Step 2 - For the Master degrees only: Confidential referee reports (by 5 November)

Within 10 days of submitting the online application, or no later than 5 November, applicants must submit the following forms directly to the Clayton Faculty Office:

Two (2) professional and one (1) academic referee report:
1. Master of Psychology Professional Referee Report Form (pdf 35Kb) OR
  Master of Psychology Professional Referee Report Form (doc 244Kb)
2. Master of Psychology Acedemic Referee Report Form (pdf 35Kb) OR
  Master of Psychology Acedemic Referee Report Form (doc 242Kb)
A hard copy of the relevant Supplementary form, if not already uploaded with transcripts in step 1.

Please ensure your application is complete and all documentation is submitted on time. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

Step 3 - For the Master degrees only: Short listing (mid-November)

Applicants are ranked on all selection criteria.
Short-listed applicants will be contacted to arrange a selection interview between mid-November and early December.
Applicants not short listed for the interview will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.

Step 4 - For the Master degrees only: Selection interviews (mid-November - early December)

Step 5 - First round offers

For the Master degrees only: First round offers are mailed out by early December. Applicants are asked to respond within two weeks of receiving their offer.

For the Postgraduate Diploma only: First round offers are mailed out by mid November. Applicants are asked to respond within two weeks of receiving their offer

Step 6 - Second round offers (late December - mid-January)

Second round offers in all courses are made in stages as applicants respond to first round offers.
All applicants are notified of the outcome of their application by the end of January.
