Consultations for individuals and small groups

Consultations for semester 1 2009 are run from 2 March to 5 June.

Rosemary Viete and Anne Prince offer FREE academic English language consultations on assignment writing to individual students and to small groups of students. In these sessions we can work with you on different strategies to:

  1. critically consider your topic
  2. understand the required genres
  3. analyse the question[s]
  4. critically respond to the key elements in the question[s]
  5. develop research topics of your own
  6. consider your audiences[s]
  7. contextualise your topic
  8. consider appropriate organisation and presentation of your argument[s]
  9. look critically at your language use to consider whether your text says what you want it to say
  10. understand the nature of evidence needed by your topic
  11. effectively evaluate, include and integrate source material
  12. think about how to position yourself within your writing
  13. review, reflect on and learn from your own writing

To make an appointment, contact Rosemary Viete or Anne Prince, or visit them in room 130 and room 132, Building 6, Clayton campus.

Individual appointments

Individual appointments should be made at least 48 hours in advance. Because we want to assist as many students as possible, for equity reasons, we have to limit individual appointments to 3 per student per semester, unless special circumstances apply.

Small group sessions

You and a small group of your fellow students can arrange regular small group meetings with Rosemary or Anne to discuss readings and assignments in a specific unit.
