Submitting your thesis

The following documents are required for submission to examiners.

  1. Minor thesis submission and library release form
  2. Three glue-bound copies of your thesis including:-
  • An abstract (approx 120 words)
  • A signed and dated statement of authenticity:

This project contains no material that has been submitted by the candidate for examination in any other course, or accepted for the award of any degree or diploma in any University. To the best of the candidate's knowledge it contains no material previously published or written by any other person, except where due reference is made in the text.

  • A signed and dated statement that the thesis received ethical approval:

The work undertaken for this project was duly authorised by the Standing Committee on Ethics in Research Involving Humans of Monash University on {date}: (project no: )

You should organize a time to meet with your supervisor to have the submission forms signed prior to submission.  These documents and your thesis should then be submitted to the Coursework Office in the Faculty of Education, Clayton campus.  Off campus students should submit their thesis and submission forms directly to the Coursework Office in the Faculty.  The thesis and documents will then be forwarded to your supervisor for approval and signature.

Examination time frame

The examination of Masters theses takes approximately FOUR MONTHS. If you are required to complete any minor corrections, or if there is a disagreement between examiners over the grade, the process will be longer.  Once all corrections have been completed, two final copies must be submitted; one hard bound and one perfect (glue) bound.

Application to graduate

Students can apply to graduate  when they have submitted their thesis for examination. However, students can only graduate once their thesis has been examined, all corrections completed and a final hard bound copy of the thesis submitted to the Faculty. If the examination process has not been completed by the graduation date students will be withdrawn from the Graduation list.
