Additional enrolment information

Enrolment load

Enrolment load is measured in EFTSL (Equivalent Full Time Student Load). A full time student will normally be enrolled in 1 EFTSL (48 credit points). An EFTSL of less than .75 (36 credit points) is defined as a part-time study load.

To overload or underload your enrolment you must get permission from Student Services staff on your home campus.

International students, please note that under-enrolment may affect your visa.

Transfer to another course

The internal course transfer process follows the Monash University Internal Transfer Policy, which is part of the Monash Admission to Coursework Courses and Units of Study policy and procedures.

Students who wish to transfer to a course within the Faculty should complete the Transfer Course application form and submit it to the campus where the course they want to transfer to is offered. The application form and the closing dates are found on the Student application forms page, under the Transfer Course link.

Faculty of Education minimum eligibility criteria for an internal course transfer

Students are asked to note that as admission to a course on the basis of internal course transfer is subject to a competitive process, the actual requirement for admission may be higher than that listed below.

(1) Intra Faculty of Education transfer:
Student must have passed a minimum of 42 credit points in their current year of study.

(2) Other Faculty into Faculty of Education transfer:
Student must have achieved a minimum "Credit average" in their current year of study, with no fails permitted. Where the transfer is to a double degree with Education, the minimum requirements of the other Faculty will also be observed.

Enrolment amendments for off-shore students

Please note that off-shore students are governed by a different study schedule. Instead of two (2) semesters per year, off-shore students have four (4) terms. Here are the critical dates by which all enrolment amendments must be made:

Term (any year)Critical dates for changes to enrolment (any year)
Term 1  (1 Jan - 31 Mar) 14 January
Term 2  (1 Apr - 30 Jun) 14 April
Term 3  (1 Jul - 30 Sep) 14 July
Term 4  (1 Oct - 31 Dec) 14 October

What if you failed a unit?

Students who have failed a unit can still use WES to re-enrol. If you have failed any units, which are pre or co-requisites for the upcoming semester, the upcoming units will be shown on your web 'enrolment form' as 'INVALID'. You will need to remove any 'INVALID' units and select replacement units.
