Admissions and Scholarships Sub-committee

The Admission and Scholarship Sub-committee manages admissions and scholarships processes consistent with Faculty policies and processes and advises and reports to Education Committee (formerly Curriculum Committee).

Meetings 2009

The Committee will normally meet a minimum of four times per year, but may be convened as needed to deal with issues as they arise.

Reporting

Recommendations and decisions will be forwarded to the Education Committee for noting and action as needed.

Terms of Reference

  1. To advise Education Committee on admissions policy for Faculty courses including:
    • prerequisites for undergraduate courses
    • normal entry requirements for post graduate courses
    • alternative entry (including RPL) for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate courses
  2. To advise Education Committee on Faculty policy and processes relating to the awarding of scholarships for coursework programs
  3. To monitor and oversee the implementation of University Admissions and Scholarship Policy and to advise Education Committee on the impact on the Faculty of any proposed change to these University policies
  4. To monitor the work of the University's Admissions Committee and the Coursework Scholarships Committee and advise Education Committee of matters arising from these University Committees which will impact on the faculty
  5. To monitor intakes into Faculty programs and in particular undergraduate programs to ensure that a broadly based socio-economic intake into all courses and to prepare reports on the intakes into Faculty courses flowing from the Schools Access Scheme and the Indigenous and Torres Strait Access Scheme.
  6. To review, annually, the admissions process and to propose and develop changes when considered necessary
