Abstract:
David Noonan: Before and Now is part of the New Art Series, which brings the work of seven new and emerging Australian artists and craftspeople into the mainstream of publishing. The Australia Council for the Arts has developed the series with the publisher Thames & Hudson Australia under its Craftsman House imprint, edited by Ashley Crawford. In the book the author Johannah Fahey explores Noonan's inspirations and aspirations. Deliberately eschewing the traditional narrative of an artists life, Fahey begins with Noonan's most recent work, burrowing backwards in time to reflect the artist's own fascination with the temporal and the temporary, where present, past and future coalesce in a unique and gripping body of work.
