Workshop key dates for 2009

Workshop 1 and Workshop 2 will be conducted at The Brighton Savoy, 150 The Esplanade, Brighton Vic 3186 (Tel: 9592 8233).

  • Workshop 1 - Thursday 18th and Friday 19th June 2009 (accommodation and a workshop dinner provided for participants on Thursday 18th June)
  • Workshop 2 - Friday September 4th 2009

  • Supervision Session - various dates to be confirmed
    The Supervision sessions will be conducted in a number of Regional locations, based on participant access.

Program overview

The Mentoring Matters program is part of the Victoria Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD)’s Learning to Lead Effective Schools strategy and has been designed and will be delivered by the Faculty of Education, Monash University.

The program aims to:

  • help experienced school leaders draw out the talents of their colleagues efficiently and effectively:
  • assist school leaders to manage the most challenging aspects of the mentoring process, and thus set the conditions for sustainable long-term change in mentorees.
  • build school leaders’ understanding of the substantial research on relationship formation and maintenance and its links to sustainable school improvement.
  • develop school leaders’ knowledge of themselves as ‘leading learners’
