Regional Studies Symposium 2008
Margaret Somerville, Research Director of the Institute for Regional Studies, together with John Tomaney, the Director of the IRS, held a very successful Symposium, Regions in a time of globalization and climate change on 12th December, 2008.
The Symposium featured presentations from a range of disciplines and stimulated innovative thinking about regions and contemporary issues. The presentations allowed time for facilitated conversations and cross-disciplinary discussions. A panel of invited representatives from government, statutory authorities, and community organisations presented their vision, needs and ideas for research. The day concluded with the bringing together of ideas and issues raised during the Symposium.
