Psychology of Teachers and Students - research group

Our research group undertakes pure and applied empirical research using methodological and disciplinary lenses from psychology to examine cognitive, behavioural, affective and existential development of teachers and students in different sociocultural settings. Our aim is to go beyond describing diversity, in an effort to build models or general principles concerning the development of learning, cognition and motivation. We seek to understand how race, ethnicity, social class, disability and gender impact life trajectories, educational outcomes and occupational opportunities. To this end, we conduct descriptive, intervention, longitudinal, and mixed-methods research. We seek to better understand what sustains teachers across their working lives and how to engage the new millennium child and adolescent in educational settings.
