6 July 2010 - The relational aspects of educational expertise: Educational work across professional boundaries

19 August 2010
Linda Henderson

This seminar extended the research program of the Social Innovation and Education Research Group in the Faculty of Education, by examining the relational aspects of educational work in globalised and increasingly multi-disciplinary work sites in education and human services. The work practices and professional identities of those who support learning, who do 'educational work', are being reconfigured relative to previously established boundaries between education-work, state-economy, schooling-companies, which organised distinct occupational groups of educational workers. These trends, which are disrupting and reforming boundaries on local-global scales, press us to become globally distributed human service professionals. These trends are well-advanced in the United Kingdom and are now emerging strongly in Australia.
