Biography

Beverley's teaching career began in Victorian secondary schools, Penang Malaysia and then a decade at Eltham College. Her teaching experience and HDR qualifications (Masters in Science Education and PhD in Primary Technology Education) position her at the cutting edge of pedagogy for teaching and learning in Primary schools. She co-authored (with Fleer) the books "Science for Children" and "Technology for Children" which are set as texts in universities across Australia. Her focus in Teacher Education is on mentoring for optimising potential and the inner life of the teacher. Beverley's tertiary teaching focuses on linking theory and practice through partnerships with primary/secondary schools. She is an international research partner in The Puppets Project in the UK, and the representative for the South Pacific region on the IOSTE board.

Teacher education - mentoring, efficacy and self-esteem; Pedagogy - science and technology education; Intergenerational learning - grandparents and children's learning from a socio-cultural-historical perspective
