Back to Maningrida teaching experience 2007 page

Here is what students said in a thankyou card about their teaching experience in Maningrida in 2007.

I have had an amazing experience here at the Maningrida Community Education Centre! A special thank you to Rose, Rachel (Njawamud), Joanne, Alistair, Tinacy and Debbie and all the beautiful 3\4 children of Murnun Room. You all taught me so much, especially at Rocky Point.
Kylie Clarke

Being at Maningrida has been an unbelievable experience for me, not only as a student teacher but also as a person. It has been at times challenging, entertaining and informative, and has above all provided me with a greater awareness and appreciation of wider cultural issues I have never considered before. Maningrida CEC has been supportive at all times and I have really loved the warm welcome we’ve received not only from the staff but from the students as well. I know that I will tell everyone back home about the wonderful people I met while in the community of Maningrida. Thank you for having us.

I would like to thank the residents of Maningrida for giving us permission to spend time in your beautiful country. It has been a privilege to teach your children and to learn about your culture and community. I will remember you generosity and the time I have spent here forever. Thank you also to the staff and students at Maningrida CEC for allowing me to do my practicum here. It has been a very challenging yet rewarding experience. The staff have been really supportive and encouraging and the children have been fantastic, they are the friendliest kids ever. Especially Wangurra Class!

It has been an incredible experience for me to be at Maningrida CEC, in such a healthy and dedicated educational environment, amongst the great people of the surrounding community. Thanks to all the staff and students here for teaching me so much, and allowing me to be involved.

Thank you for this opportunity to teach at Maningrida CEC. I have learnt so much from the children and enjoyed getting to know Wangurra Class. I will take home lots of new ideas and teaching strategies and will always remember my three weeks in Maningrida. I hope you will have me back some time.
Simone Bailey

I have had a great time in Bokpurra Class. While the students have been making their book about the school, I have learned the importance of teaching things the students are interested in.  Thank you very much for this amazing experience.
Libby Odom

Thankyou Maningrida for an extremely memorable few weeks. Even from my first day here I have felt very welcomed and accepted in the school and community. I have met so many wonderful people in my short stay here and have learnt a great deal. An exciting, valuable and unforgettable experience.

It has been an honour to be a guest in Maningrida, Northern Territory. The people’s hearts are in the land and their pride for their culture reflects this. Teaching at the Maningrida Community Education Centre was an inspiring experience. It was truly amazing to see such a community supported educational context. It was an opportunity, like no other, to teach and yet to be taught as well, about life on the land in Maningrida.

Thank you to all the families, staff and students of Maningrida, for giving me such a memorable gift, adding to my teaching experiences and my life journey. Maningrida is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Arnhem Land and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Thank you for sharing your homeland with me.
Kind regards and best wishes,
Bronwyn Jobbagy

Thank you for all the CEC staff for having me at your amazing school. A special thanks to the Bokpurra class for welcoming me into their classroom.  You have shown me the value of family and the importance of connected learning. Seeing the bilingual program in action has highlighted how valuable the program is. No matter where I go and teach I will always remember and value my experience here in Maningrida.
