Since it was established in 1997, MCRIE has made significant steps towards achieving these goals. It has secured a number of grants, research projects and consultancies spanning Higher Education, Vocational Education and Training, and Secondary Schooling. It has successfully introduced an 'International Education' pathway comprising Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma programs and a new Master of Education specialising in International Education. These courses are provided via distance education and have attracted considerable interest from educational professionals from around Australia. MCRIE has developed collaborative arrangements with several Asian universities for the delivery of short courses and plans similar arrangements with other universities in the region. The Centre's staff and associates have presented a range of papers at international conferences and are actively extending their networks with other researchers working in the field.
