Institute of Human Development and CounsellingAbout the InstituteThe Institute of Human Development and Counselling is a research and teaching facility of the Faculty of Education. It offers programs in psychology (specialising in counselling and educational & developmental psychology), counselling, inclusive education, and giftedness. It incorporates the Krongold Centre for Exceptional Children and Elwyn Morey Early Intervention Centre. It is linked with specialist clinics based at the Monash Medical Centre. Programs for professionals include post graduate training in educational and psychological assessment, curriculum development for special needs, and counselling skill training. Community and fee for service programs include early intervention for children with special needs as well as those who are gifted, assessment opportunities for children suspected of an autism spectrum disorder, clinics for children with severe emotional difficulties and for those with school refusal and truancy problems.
