CEET is the only centre for the economics of education and training in Australia. A well established research centre, its structure is unique involving two faculties at Monash University -- Education and Business & Economics -- and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).

2009 NCVER VET Researcher of the Year Award Chris Selby Smith has been posthumously awarded the 2009 VET Researcher of the Year. Chris, who died in September 2007, had been a very active researcher and policy advisor for over 40 years. He was a founding Director of the Monash University – ACER Centre for the Economics of Education and Training (CEET) and was widely known for his research on areas such as user choice, costs of training, impact of research, and funding for students with a disability. The award was presented at the Australian Training Awards on 19 November by Tom Karmel (Managing Director of NCVER) and accepted by his Chris’s wife, Joy Selby Smith.
