Equity and diversity information for students and staff

Faculty's commitment to equity and diversity

The Faculty of Education is committed to achieve an environment where:

  • all students and staff are treated fairly and equitably;
  • we are committed to full compliance with the University's policies in relation to staff and students with disabilities;
  • we support our staff by developing flexible employment opportunities and we strive to achieve gender equity and equal opportunity for staff in all aspects of the Faculty's operations.

There is also a strong commitment to ensure that indigenous Australians have appropriate access to all our courses, and strive to develop successful careers within the Faculty.

As a Faculty with students from so many nations and cultural backgrounds we value this cultural diversity and ensure that it is respected in the way we operate in all of our activities.

The Faculty Equity and Diversity Committee would like to invite students and staff to join the committee. Student membership in particular is essential to the success of the Committee in responding to issues of student equity and diversity.

Resources for female staff

  • The Women's Leadership and Advancement Scheme (WLAS) monitors the employment profile of female staff (academic and general) at Monash and supports the University's goal of being an 'employer of choice for women' by providing advice on strategies that contribute to the recruitment, retention and advancement of women. The Scheme facilitates a number of career development programs for women and is responsible for reporting to the Federal Government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency on the University's equal opportunity for women initiatives.
